RULES & RACE INFORMATION
The Race will be run in accordance with the latest version of the rules of the UCI (Union Cyclist International), SAMTB (South African Mountain Biking). The breaking of the rules will lead to immediate disqualification of the concerned rider;
Outside assistance (seconding) is not allowed under any circumstances. This includes family and friends driving the whole or part of the course in their vehicles spectating the race. Spectating at specific points, which can be reached without driving on the racecourse, is allowed.
Mechanical assistance is allowed from competing cyclists along the route.
As per the CSA (Cycling federation of South Africa) every rider must be in the possession of a licence, whether Cyclosport or Racing. Should they not have a licence, a “day-licence” must be purchased at an additional R35.00 on the day of the event. Licensed riders must provide proof of their licence, if not, they will need to pay the additional R35.00 for a day licence.
NO HELMET NO RIDE. No participant may compete without wearing a cycling helmet.
Cyclists must obey the rules of the road.
Race will take place regardless of weather conditions;
Please note: NO LITTERING.
There are 4 water points on the route. Water and energy drinks will be available to drink. Cyclists must stop at the water points if they want to receive these drinks. Please leave all empties at the water points.
Participants must complete the course by 13h30 in order to qualify as a finisher and to receive a key ring. Support vehicles and marshals will be withdrawn after the cut off time.
Age Restriction, all participants in the 70km race must be 14 years and older on the day of the race.
Entry Fees are not refundable. A late entry fee of R20.00 will be charged for entries on the day and after the closure date for entries, 12 April 2010. If the organizers have received your entry but your payment remains outstanding past the closure date for entries, the entry will be considered a late entry and will therefore carry the additional late entry fee of R20.00.
Entrants must collect their numbers at registration at the Registration Tent on the day from 6h30.
Results will be available on the web during the week after the event.
All finishers in the 70km and 45km will receive a key ring on completion of the route within the time limit of 5h30 (five and a half hours)
Race briefing for the 70km will start at 7h45 at the Start Line and for the 45km at 8h45 at the Start Line.
Medical support will be available along the route.
Prize giving at Hoekwil Primary at 13h30 on Saturday.
Free “Buff” to the first 100 entries received via online, faxed or e-mailed (for 70km and 45km only)
First 200 entries in the 70km and 45km will receive a goodie bag at registration.
